Welsh Affairs Committee endorses Welsh Liberal Democrat view - Randerson

6.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th Jul 2008

Reacting to the Welsh Affairs Committee report on cross border health services, Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Health and Social Services, Jenny Randerson AM has welcomed the findings that have endorsed the view of the Welsh Liberal Democrats on cross border services.

Jenny Randerson said: "Patients are finding that the differing targets between England and Wales are resulting in patients being treated in the same hospitals are facing different levels of service.

"Divergence of policy is natural post devolution, but the Department of Health and WAG must work closely to offset the unintended consequences for cross-border patients.

"This report endorses much of what we have been saying for many years. Namely that Welsh patients deserve high quality services wherever they live in Wales. This report recognises that this is not happening and it shows how urgently it needs addressing."
