Barclays job losses in Pentwyn, Cardiff - Jenny Randerson comment

5.24.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 8th Jul 2008

Commenting on the loss of 300 jobs by Barclays in the Pentwyn area of her constituency, Cardiff Central Welsh Lib Dem AM, Jenny Randerson said:

"This is further devastating news for my constituency, following other job losses in the city centre and surrounding areas. I am deeply worried about the gathering clouds for the UK and Welsh economy. The Government, both in Westminster and Cardiff Bay need to get a grip and prevent further losses of livelihoods like this one. The economy is looking to be heading towards real problems.

I hope that the Assembly Government will do all they can to find ways to help these people who have just received this devastating news."
