Bowel cancer delay throws priorities in to question

1.09.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 6th Jun 2008

Commenting on the news that full screening for bowel cancer in Wales will not be introduced until 2015, Welsh Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Jenny Randerson said:

"This delay is very disappointing. It leaves me questioning the priorities of this government.

"Electoral gimmicks like free prescriptions for the rich and free parking for commuters are pushing the bread and butter issues to the back of the queue.

"Instead of headline grabbing perks, the government should focus its effort on a health service that works."
