First Great Western has a long track to travel - Randerson12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 26th Feb 2008 Commenting on announcement by train operator, First Great Western that they will invest extra money to improve their service, Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson has warned that the company has a long way to go. The news followed Jenny Randerson's condemnation of the company in the Assembly last week for appalling levels of service in and out of Cardiff Central station. Jenny Randerson said: "I welcome this extra money and am glad that First Great Western are finally admitting what their passengers already knew, that the standard of their service was unacceptable. Only last week, the company was quoted in the press saying that I had got my facts wrong when I criticised them. I am glad that in a few short days they have come to accept what was pretty obvious to the rest of us. "I am sure this money will go some way to improving services, but First Great Western have a long way to go before the standard of their service becomes acceptable. I hope that next time things go wrong, they are a little quicker to accept their mistakes and take action rather than denying there is a problem." Notes: 1. Last week Jenny Randerson AM raised the issues with the company in the Assembly and branded the company 'Worst Great Western' after collating details of problems on services in or out of Cardiff for four weeks. The research showed serious problems or delays on 15 weekdays out of 20. Ends/
