Jenny Randerson Liberal Democrat AM for Cardiff Central, has committed to 'save her 20%' as part of Energy Saving Week.

"I am aiming to save 20% of the energy I use in order to play my small part in the joint effort to ease the negative effects of climate change. With almost half of the UK's CO2 emissions emanating from day-to-day activities such as leaving appliances on standby we can make a real impact on UK CO2 emissions by each of us making small changes to our daily lifestyle. Real change doesn't have to be painful!"

"I shall be:

  • Turning my thermostat down by 1?C

  • Washing my laundry at 30?C

  • Buying Energy Saving Recommended appliances

  • Leaving my car at home for short journeys

"I have already:

  • Installed Cavity Wall Installation

  • Topped up my loft insulation to 270mm

  • Installed a condensing boiler

  • Put in as much water as I need each time I boil the kettle for hot drinks

  • Chosen to switch off appliances and not leave them on standby

  • Replaced light bulbs with Energy saving ones

"I will sign a statement of opinion supporting the energy saving trusts plans to roll out 'one-stop-shop' advice centres across the UK offering advice on micro-renewables and greater energy efficiency.

"The Liberal Democrats want to see 100% of our electricity coming from renewable sources by 2050 - creating new jobs, exporting technology and a secure source of energy. We say no to new nuclear power, an unsafe toxic treasure trove for the future. We also want all new buildings to be carbon-neutral by 2015, with public buildings having to generate more of their own energy and our homes being properly insulated meaning cheaper bills for everyone. We want to take united action across the board for Wales to make the 'green-switch'"
