Randerson is First to sign up for Adapted Toilets

Jenny Randerson AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Member for Cardiff Central was today the first person to sign up for a petition initiated by Mencap Cymru:

Mencap Cymru calls upon the Welsh Assembly Government to make sure more adapted toilets are available for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. They want all new large public buildings such as St David's 2 to include these toilets.

Jenny said "Thousands of people who have profound and multiple learning disabilities or physical disabilities need adapted 'Changing Places' toilets. Without adapted toilets carers are often forced to change family members in very challenging and often unhygienic conditions.

"'Changing Places Toilets' are toilets with enough space for disabled people and their carers, and the right equipment, including a height adjustable changing bench and a hoist.

"The alternative for many people is to not go out at all, In the UK 24,000 people with a spinal injuries could benefit."
