Jenny Randerson - Standing up for Cardiff Central

Financial settlement means tough choices for Government

This years' funding settlement for Wales means careful prioritisation and tough choices for the Welsh Government, Jenny Randerson warned today.

The Welsh Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson said: "We all know the era of big increases in the block grant is in the past. The Government must be responsible, and it will be a big test for Plaid and Labour to work together on this.

"The First Minister has put off explaining how he will pay for some of his Government's plans - now he must explain how. This might mean a tight squeeze for some of Plaid's more ambitious projects that found their way into the coalition agreement.

"We are accustomed to hearing Plaid carping about how previous settlements were a 'slap in the face for Wales'. Now it's judgement time on how they are able to turn ambitious election promised into affordable government action.."
