RANDERSON URGES NEW MINISTER TO TAKE THE LEAD IN REGENERATING THE C.R.I.

A decade after its closure, Cardiff Royal Infirmary still stands under-valued and under-used. It currently houses a small range of services run in largely poor accommodation.

Jenny Randerson, Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Cardiff Central, has written to the Assembly's new Minister for Health, Edwina Hart, asking her to take a lead with local health bodies and get something done.

Jenny said: "This is a wasted asset. The CRI was originally built by public subscription and there is overwhelming public support for the re-development of this site to provide modern health-related facilities to serve a growing population in central and southern Cardiff.

"A number of acceptable proposals have been proffered but have been rejected as not financially acceptable and I think it is time that all interested parties set aside their differences and now use all their efforts to ensure there is a speedy resolution of this issue".
