Men with prostate cancer who are suitable for brachytherapy will be allowed the treatment in England from the start of the next financial year. Health Commission Wales has agreed to pay for some patients to go to English hospitals to have the treatment until a service is set up at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff at the end of the summer.

Jenny Randerson AM for Cardiff Central commented 'The Government announced a £67.5m budget under spend which is to be spent on one off expenditures. Funding those suitable for brachytherapy In England before April would be such an expenditure.

"Brachytherapy now would make a massive difference to a number of cancer patients across Wales.

"The Labour Government are making it up as they go along. Instead of acting in a considered manner they seem to be in cycle where they are forever correcting previous corrections."
