Welsh Liberal Democrat AMs Michael German and Jenny Randerson have called on the people of Wales to remember those who lost their lives during the Holocaust on the Memorial Day this Friday.
Liberal Democrat Assembly Leader Michael German said: "The victims of the Holocaust should not be forgotten. The anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz reminds us all of the dangers of extremism and the need to fight discrimination in our society".
Jenny Randerson, AM for Cardiff Central added: "It is vital to support an event that reminds us of what we have to learn from history and I am pleased that Cardiff is honouring the survivors".
Michael and Jenny have laid down a statement of opinion on the Holocaust Memorial Day in the National Assembly and they will both be attending the National Holocaust Memorial Concert on Thursday night at the Wales Millennium Centre.
Notes/Noddiau:
The statement reads:
The National Assembly for Wales notes Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January and remembers all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and other more recent tragedies. Furthermore, the Assembly thanks the City of Cardiff for hosting the national commemorative event, which helps to ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten and urges people to be mindful of the consequences that all forms of discrimination can have on our society.
