Randerson and Lib Dems fight to save NHS Dentists

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 26th Sep 2006

Liberal Democrats from across Mid and West Wales today travelled to the National Assembly for Wales to present their petition containing well over 1,000 signatures calling for reform of the dental contract and more Dental Therapists to treat low-level dental disease, thus freeing up dentists to concentrate on more serious cases.

Welsh Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson Jenny Randerson, accepting the petition for the Assembly said "In a time of supposed apathy this petition highlights how strongly the people of Wales want local, quality dentistry.

"Access to NHS dentists should be a basic right to which we are all entitled. Wales needs a stronger lead from its Labour Assembly Government in keeping Wales' teeth healthy.

"The Welsh Liberal Democrats have a clear action plan to tackle the dental crisis and I am more than happy to pass copies on to the Labour Party."
